Technical Information

The source specifically describes a short, irregular crushed-pellet product rather than intact long pellets or native coconut-shell crushed carbon.

Composition or process

  • Coconut-shell char is milled, mixed with binder, extruded as complete pellets, carbonized again, steam activated, crushed, screened, acid-washed, water-washed and dried.

Applications

  • Gas-phase VOC treatment and solvent recovery.
  • Liquid-phase water treatment.

Source-listed specifications

  • Particle sizes: 5–10, 10–24, 24–40, 40–60 and 60–100 mesh.
  • Iodine number: 1100–1150 mg/g; CTC: 82–95%; ash: ≤3%; molasses number: 12–13.5; mesopore ratio: 34%; bulk density: 0.37–0.38.
  • Mechanical strength is shown as 94–95% but the original encoding is corrupted.

Source-listed advantages

  • Lower bed pressure drop, faster adsorption contact, good regenerability and adsorption capacity about 15–20% higher than ordinary coconut-shell carbon.

Important product notes

  • The original encoding corrupts the mechanical-strength unit; the source numerals are retained without guessing a unit.
